PACIFIC POKER REVIEW

Software

888.com is one of the leading gambling entertainment venues on the Internet, offering both Pacific Poker and Casino-on-Net. Since its official launch in 1997, over 25 million people have experienced 888's exciting gaming action on the world wide web. Pacific Poker is operated by Cassava Enterprises Ltd, a registered company, incorporated and located in Gibraltar. They operate under a license granted by the Government of Gibraltar under the provisions of the Gambling Ordinance for the purposes of operating an Internet Casino.

The software looks fairly basic but we found many attractive features. The player note taking facility allows you to store limitless notes on each opponent, which is important if you want to gain an informational advantage over your opponents. Pacific were one of the first sites we noticed to provide ghost cards, which means you get to see the cards you folded, if you play a lot of tables then this feature is very useful as you spend less brain power on trying to remember what you just folded instead of focussing on the game.

Traffic

At the time of writing, Pacific Poker was flirting in and out of the top 10 poker sites, in terms of traffic. We felt the cash tables were the most populated part of the site with the no limit Hold'em tables attracting the lions share of activity, the multi table tournaments see smallish field sizes, so the chance of regularly making a decent score is very much possible, their Sit & Go's take a little while to fill, especially off peak, but this is one of the places where our inhouse poker guru built his bankroll multitabling their 20 player $8 Sit & Go's which payout to the top 5 places. Nowadays, the Sit & Go action seems every bit as weak as it used to be back in the day, we reckon most proficient player would easily be able to grind out a profit.

Promotions and Bonuses

At Pacific Poker, they believe in a warm welcome. Most sites that offer a first deposit bonus don’t actually give you any free money to play with until you play a certain amount. They hand you 25% of your welcome bonus instantly before you even sit down at your first table, up to a maximum of $400. As a new player, you’ll also be entitled to their first depositors freerolls. The other 75% of your bonus is pending and easy to clear by accumulating Bonus Points. Simply sign up to Pacific Poker via a link on TakesAllSports and they will take care of the rest.

Poker with friends is like sports with beer. The one’s just not as good without the other. Get your friends to join Pacific Poker via a TakesAllSports link after you invite them using their simple Invite-a-friend Wizard and make everyone a winner. You get a $50 bonus for every friend who opens an account and starts playing real poker. Your mates get an extra $25 free bonus in addition to the usual 100% Welcome Bonus up to $400 on their first deposit! The more friends you get to join Pacific Poker via a TakesAllSports link, the greater your earning potential.

Banking

Accepted payment methods are'nt hard to come by at Pacific Poker, they accept Visa, Mastercard, Eurocard and Diners club credit cards, Entropay, Chinese, Laser, Solo and Maestro debit cards, Bank transfer, Boleto, Deposito Referenciado, European cheques, e-cheques, PayPoint invoices and wire transfers. They allow the following online bank deposits: Commerzbank OnlineBankingweb, Deutsche Bank 24, Dresdner Bank Internetbanking, ELBA Direct Debit, eKonto, eNETS, Hansabank, iDEAL, INSTADEBIT, POLi, Przelewy 24, Sofortuberweisung and also Swedbank. You can use the following e-wallets: Abagoos, ACTeCASH, ClickandBuy, Dankort Powered by Moneybookers, GiroPay Powered by Moneybookers, iDeal Powered by Moneybookers, Moneta, Moneybookers, Neteller, PayPal, Nordea Powered by Moneybookers, P24 Powered by Moneybookers, POLi Powered by Moneybookers and Sofortuberweisung Powered by Moneybookers. The following prepaid cards are also accepted: Cash PrePaid Card, PayPoint e-Voucher, PaySafeCard, Ukash. We can't guarantee that all these payment methods are as good as each other, but with a company as recognised as Pacific Poker, it's unlikely that they would allow themselves to be affiliated with anyone untrustworthy.

Customer Service

At Pacific Poker they believe that the only way they can sustain their success is by focusing on the founding principles of their organisation; to treat their members the same way they would expect to be treated. Although there are'nt many ways to contact their customer service team, we found them to be exceedingly pleasant and equally as helpful. There's a large FAQ section which covers over 200 of the hottest discussion topics, if you can't find an answer there you can send a message via the messaging service on their website; for ongoing issues it's better to use their email support.

Competition

Because Pacific Poker is owned by 888.com, we expect the reason for the low standard of play is due to many of the casino punters gambling it up on the poker side of the 888 empire. We found the standard of the satellite tournaments to be lower than the average site and the structure is so good that we simply must recommend them, we feel they represent a sterling opportunity to qualify for their regular big money tournaments for a small outlay, so the chance of making a big score is'nt just for the high rollers as you should be able to afford to qualify much more often.
